Central Board of Excise & Customs is a part of the Department of Revenue under the Ministry of Finance, Government of India.
It deals with the tasks of formulation of policy concerning levy and collection of Customs, Central Excise duties, Central Goods & Services Tax and IGST,
prevention of smuggling and administration of matters relating to Customs, Central Excise, Central Goods & Services Tax, IGST and Narcotics to the extent under CBIC's purview. The Board is the administrative authority for its subordinate organizations,
including Custom Houses, Central Excise and Central GST Commissionerates and the Central Revenues Control Laboratory.
The Excise Directorate under the Finance Department, India is one of the major revenue earning directorates for the Government of India.
The operations of the Excise Directorate centre around the enforcement of regulations relating to the manufacture, production, possession, distribution,
transport, supply, selling and buying of liquor and other intoxicants. The Directorate strives to achieve the twin needs of preventing the manufacture, supply and
distribution of illicit/counterfeit/spurious liquor and/.or non-duty paid intoxicants and attaining the full realizable revenue potential of the State.

Regulated sale of alcohol and other approved intoxicants within the State so as to ensure safety against health hazard and growth in revenue.
Our Mission
The mission of the Excise Department is to check the illicit liquor and drug abuse in order to promote a peaceful and healthy society. The department’s endeavour is prevention of offences under the India Excise Act, 2000 and Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act. Another mission of the department is to reduce the availability of liquor,Intensive awareness campaign against Alcoholism and drug abuse. Collection of Excise revenue through regulated sale of liquor is also a mission of the department.
